Sangiuliano-Boccia case, Ranucci: "Am I under investigation? I'm calm, unprecedented news has been released."

"I only know that a complaint has been filed regarding the broadcast of the audio of the phone call with the conversation between Gennaro Sangiuliano and his wife . We're calm; we simply reported that Maria Rosaria Boccia 's contract had been suspended following that phone call." This is what Sigfrido Ranucci said, regarding the news relaunched by Forza Italia members, such as Roberto Rosso and Maurizio Gasparri , according to whom the Report host is under investigation by the Rome prosecutor's office for the crime of unlawful interference following the broadcast of the audio. Both Rosso and Gasparri are calling on RAI to intervene. "No one enjoys impunity, and Ranucci must also respect the law," Gasparri commented. "RAI has a duty to activate all the internal mechanisms required by law and not give anyone any concessions."
For his part, the journalist and host of Report explains: "We broke new news. The audio of that phone call was certainly not recorded by us. We limited ourselves to reporting 30 seconds of audio that I believe to be hours long, because that excerpt revealed that, under pressure from his wife, Sangiuliano had sent a message to Cabinet Chief Gilioli that same day to cancel Maria Rosaria Boccia's contract."
"Among other things," Ranucci emphasizes, "the Order of Journalists had also opened proceedings regarding the audio transmission, which was then dismissed."
"When Rai is asked to intervene against me, I remind myself that this is the same company that aired an interview with Sangiuliano in which the former minister didn't tell the whole truth about the reasons for blocking his contract," the Report host continues. "I was only a journalist, and the Order of Journalists has already expressed its opinion on the correctness of my actions. I also remind myself that the citizen's right to be informed takes precedence even over the protection of privacy on matters of private life, if one limits oneself to the essential nature of the news. The journalists' code of ethics and the Privacy Guarantor also state this."
"I haven't received any notification from the prosecutor's office yet," Ranucci continues, "and if it did, it would only be one of many investigations launched against Report. I have always had faith in the judiciary and justice. Just today, the Rome Court dismissed Ciavardini and De Angelis's complaint against us. It would be interesting to understand how Rosso and Gasparri learned of the news. It's strange that they only now realized there was a complaint. I also remember that the prosecutor's office asked us for unreleased audio on the matter, including those relating to Gilioli, because they are useful from an investigative standpoint."
